In these turbulent times a Rainbow presents Hope. Especially regarding inclusivity and diversity. The German firm Schott asked G&SS to work out a design for “a rainbow wall” for the Schott stand on the Glasstec 2022 trade fair in Dusseldorf. This was a commission combined with the Mikado Tower for the same Schott stand. Both designs were worked out with glass tubes, made by Schott itself, with computer controlled coloured led lights inside. For structural safety reasons the glass tubes are reinforced with a thick steel bar in the center of the glass tube. A concept like this was already worked out by G&SS for the Ziptruss. G&SS designed, calculated and built a wall of glass tubes with led lights as the back support for a bench on which the visitors to the Schott stand could rest or take a selfie. The LED lighting was developed by Proliad and De Cirkel to show a variety of programs with surprising and beautiful slowly changing patterns.
